Absolutely, the feature to create & delete “splits“ on both the video & zoom timelines is about to start development. Motion 1.8.0 is about to release in ~2 days with new features, so right after this release (presets), the next one will be on “splits” (which is a highly requested feature).
As soon as your requested feature is in Motion 1.9.0, I’ll personally be reaching out to you as I know it is important.
